Finance
Officers met with Accountable but rejected it because it isn’t registered with the FCI, charges significant fees, doesn’t send money to Ethiopia. It does a similar job to CAF Donate. It needs a bank account attached so we should use a separate one opened by Aster for the purpose.
Constitution
Item
Feyisa concerned about inactive members. Supports inclusion of UK work. Benefits in election of trustees. It is normal to have 3 year term to give continuity.
Siobhan says we don’t know why banks are rejecting us. Important to get on with.
Action
- Agreed to submit revised objects to the Charities Commission for their approval.
- Brian will persevere with modifying the constitution
Fundraising
Aster has organised Brunch which was very successful and has printed bags and tee-shirts.
Girma explained that he and Feyisa are in the process of a general document which can operate as a covering letter seeking support. Feyisa has five organisations working in the region who we can approach.
- Aster and Brian to work on CAF Donate details and see if we able to link it to the account she has established.
- Aster to share account details to allow members to set up regular donations.
- Brian, Feyisa and Girma to bring report to next meeting.
