We’ve been busy

Aster Belay (our Chair) and Siobhan Crawley (Vice-chair) undertook a baking marathon to create an mouth-watering array of cakes to sell at the Crouch End Craft Market, on Saturday 8th June. They raised around £300 but just as important, they talked to customers about Workneh Dechasa Education Foundation and what it aims to do. We also entered the 21st Century by using a card reader to accept payments and donations!

9 marathons in 9 months for Workneh!

Nicky’s challenge for 2024

Nicky Lopez was WDEF’s main fundraiser in 2023. So far he has raised over £16,000 for our charity. And he doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Over the next 9 months he plans to run 9 marathons.

Starting on Tuesday 19th March he will run his first marathon is on a TREADMILL at the KXU gym in Kensington where he’s a trainer. He’ll be starting around 6am, hoping to finish before 10pm. Other classes will be going on around him, so he’ll be publicising the work of WDEF and as well as gathering online donations from his loyal supporters.

Running on a treadmill is more difficult that running outdoors, where you are spurred on by other competitors, supporters and the changing scenery.

You can send him messages of support via Instagram and donate to Workneh Dechasa Education Foundation via his JustGiving Fundraiser.
